Staying Safe Online

Year 6 learn to protect personal information, behave kindly online and spot risks.

# Staying Safe Online

In Year 6 we learn to use the internet safely and kindly.

Think Before You Share

Once something is online, it can be hard to take back. Before posting a photo or a comment, ask yourself whether you would be happy for everyone you know to see it.

Private Information

Some information should stay private, such as your full name, address, phone number and passwords. Sharing these can let strangers find you in real life. Use a nickname and check privacy settings.

Be Kind Online

Words on a screen can still hurt. Treat people online as you would face to face. If someone is unkind, do not reply in anger. Save the evidence and tell a trusted adult.

Spotting Trouble

Not everyone online is who they say they are. If a message feels strange or asks for private details, stop and tell an adult. Being careful is not the same as being afraid.
