People Help Us Remember the Past
History is not just about dates. It is about people. Learning about one person can help us understand a whole time.
Florence Nightingale
Florence Nightingale lived a long time ago and wanted to be a nurse. During a war she cleaned up the hospitals and saved many soldiers' lives. People called her the Lady with the Lamp because she checked on patients at night.
Why She Matters
Before Florence, hospitals were often dirty and dangerous. She showed that clean hospitals and good care save lives. Her work changed nursing forever.
