French: Talking About Yourself

Year 7 build French sentences to introduce themselves and express likes and dislikes.

# French: Talking About Yourself

In Year 7 we build longer French sentences to describe ourselves and others.

Introducing Yourself

Je m'appelle means my name is. J'ai onze ans means I am eleven years old. Je habite a means I live in. These simple phrases let you introduce yourself fully.

Describing Yourself

Use je suis for I am. Je suis grand for tall, je suis petit for short, je suis heureux for happy. Adjectives often change depending on whether you are male or female: heureux becomes heureuse.

Likes and Dislikes

J'aime means I like and Je n'aime pas means I do not like. Add a noun: J'aime le sport, J'aime la musique. To say you prefer something, use Je prefere.

Put It Together

Write four sentences about yourself in French: your name, your age, where you live and one thing you like. Read them aloud. Speaking clearly is just as important as being correct.
