Spanish: Colours and Numbers

Year 5 learn Spanish colours and numbers and start combining words.

# Spanish: Colours and Numbers

Spanish is spoken by millions of people around the world. In Year 5 we start with colours and numbers.

Colours

Rojo is red, azul is blue, verde is green, amarillo is yellow, and blanco is white. In Spanish, the describing word comes after the noun, so a red car is un coche rojo.

Numbers to Ten

Uno, dos, tres, cuatro, cinco, seis, siete, ocho, nueve, diez. Counting in Spanish follows a steady pattern that will help you with bigger numbers later.

Using Them Together

You can combine colour and number. Dos gatos azules means two blue cats. Putting words together is how we start to speak a language.

Practise

Look around your room and say the colour of five things in Spanish. Then count from one to ten out loud. Repetition is the key to remembering.
