Introduction to Coding

Learn the basics of coding with simple algorithms and sequences.

Introduction to Coding

Coding is how we give instructions to computers. It's like writing a recipe.

What is an Algorithm?

An algorithm is a set of step-by-step instructions to solve a problem.

Sequencing

Sequencing means putting instructions in the correct order. The computer follows them one by one.

Debugging

A bug is a mistake in your code. Debugging means finding and fixing mistakes.

Loops

A loop tells the computer to repeat something. Instead of writing the same steps again and again, we use a loop.

Block Coding

Many children's coding tools use blocks instead of typing: Scratch, Bee-Bot, Code.org.

Activity: Human Robot

One person gives instructions, the other follows them exactly. Try to guide the robot across the room!

Key Vocabulary

  • Algorithm, Code, Sequence, Bug, Debug, Loop
