Everything around us is made from materials. Different materials have different properties.
Common Materials
- Wood — hard, strong, brown (tables, pencils)
- Plastic — light, colourful, waterproof (toys, bottles)
- Metal — shiny, hard, cold (spoons, coins)
- Fabric — soft, flexible (clothes, blankets)
- Glass — transparent, breakable (windows, cups)
- Paper — light, flexible, absorbent (books, newspapers)
- Rock — hard, heavy (walls, paths)

Why Do We Use Different Materials?
We choose materials based on their properties: windows are glass because we need to see through them, jumpers are fabric because we need them to be soft and warm.
