Introduction to Plants
Discover the parts of a plant and what they need to grow through observation and hands-on activities.

Introduction
Go outside or look at a plant in your home. Can your child spot the different parts? Point out the roots (if visible), stem, leaves, and any flowers.
Activities
Activity 1: Plant Parts Labelling (10 minutes)
Draw a simple plant and label the parts together.
Activity 2: Plant a Seed (15 minutes)
Plant a bean or sunflower seed in a clear cup with damp paper towel. Watch the roots grow over the next few days!
Activity 3: What Plants Need (10 minutes)
Discuss what plants need: water, sunlight, air, and soil. Set up an experiment — what happens if a plant gets no light?
Fun Fact
The tallest tree in the world is a redwood called Hyperion — it's over 115 metres tall!
